Tachanun: The Solution

There's no question that tachanun is the "downer" moment in davenning - especially on Monday and Thursday. Many people have suggested the solution is completely taking it out of davenning. We all know that's never going to happen.
Here's my solution: move it to the beginning of davenning (with korbanos). This way, all the frum davenners can still come early and say it, and everyone else can show up on time or five minutes late. It's kind of like selichos in Elul.

Anyone who votes nisht should explain their reason in the comments.

  1. I would answer "nisht" because Jews have to have something to complain about. Better they get it out of the way early so they can enjoy the rest of their day. Otherwise they are like ticking time-bombs waiting to go off.

  2. Nisht... There are a few joys in our lives that non-jews will never understand: The feeling of having a fully satisfying meal and only having to say borei nefashos; Hearing the chazzan skip the "Some congregations omit this piyut and continue on page 845" on the yamim noraim; And a sneak-attack, surprise no tachanun on a M-Th! Its worth saying it all year for the joy of not saying it those few times.

  4. Clearly, you people are not so frum...Tachanun is something we should all look forward to, and not get out of the way. Yeah, it is long, but maybe if you davened more often than not, the words wouldn't be a pain to say. it's really not as long as you think it is..

  5. I hope the person in the picture isn't really saying tachanun, because he is leaning on the wrong arm.
